Abstract Network administrators gather data related to the performance, utilization, usability and growth of their data network. The amount of raw data gathered is usually quite large, typically ranging somewhere between several megabytes to several gigabytes of data each month. Few (if any) tools exist today for the sharing of that raw data among network operators or between a network service provider (NSP) and its customers. This document defines a model and protocol for a set of tools which could be used by NSPs and Network Operation Centers (NOCs) to share data among themselves and with customers. 1.0 Introduction Network administrators gather data related to the performance, utilization, usability and growth of their data network. The primary goal of gathering the data is to facilitate near-term problem isolation and longer-term network planning within the organization. The amount of raw data gathered is usually quite large, typically ranging somewhere between several megabytes to several gigabytes of data each month. From this raw data, the network administrator produces various types of reports. Few (if any) tools exist today for the sharing of that raw data among network operators or between a network service provider (NSP) and its customers. This document defines a model and protocol for a set of tools which could be used by NSPs and Network Operation Centers (NOCs) to share data among themselves and with customers. 1.1 The OPSTAT Model Under the Operational Statistics model [1], there exists a common model under which tools exist for the collection, storage, retrieval and presentation of network management data. A Novel Method for VANET Improvement using Cloud Computing

In this paper, we present a novel algorithm for VANET using cloud computing. We accomplish processing, routing and traffic control in a centralized and parallel way by adding one or more server to the network. Each car or node is considered a Client, in such a manner that routing, traffic control, getting information from client and data processing and storing are performed by one or more serve...

Compression and network effect on content-based image retrieval on Java enabled mobile devices

In this paper we present compression and network effect on content-based image retrieval on Java enabled mobile devices. We use client-server framework where client run on Java enabled mobile devices and servers on personal computer. Servers are designed to provide faster query results and compressed image items to the clients on request. Framework is tested on different networks by using diffe...

A Comparison of Mobile Agent and Client-Server Paradigms for Information Retrieval Tasks in Virtual Enterprises

In next-generation enterprises it will become increasingly important to retrieve information efficiently and rapidly from widely dispersed sites in a virtual enterprise, and the number of users who wish to do using wireless and portable devices will increase significantly. This paper considers the use of mobile agent technology rather than traditional clientserver computing for information retr...

Client–server Computing

Client–server computing is a distributed computing model in which client applications request services from server processes. Clients and servers typically run on different computers interconnected by a computer network. Any use of the Internet (q.v.), such as information retrieval (q.v.) from theWorldWideWeb (q.v.), is an example of client–server computing. However, the term is generally appli...

Practical Development of Internet Prolog Applications using a Java Front End

This paper introduces a general architecture that could be employed to many Prolog applications to make them available on the Internet. The approach presented makes use of client-server architecture where the client is a relatively intelligent front end written in Java, and the server is the Prolog based application. Two applications developed using this architecture: an intelligent image retri...
